Just for Fun Reading Challenge: Amelia Bedelia by Peggy Parrish

Um, this is my favorite book of all time. I'm pretty sure I read it when I was in the first grade and that, my friends, is when I discovered my sense of humor.

This book is marginally educational because in a way, it teaches children a little bit about the English language. Mostly that 9 times out of 10, you don't take a sentence and literally DO what it says. I believe that's called a colloquialism or um, something else (I'm writing this at the end of the work day okay, my brain is over-fried). Basically what I'm saying is, this book is hilarious because poor Amelia Bedelia was just doing what the folks told her to.

My favorite is the way she dressed the chicken. My other favorite is when she measured the cups of rice...although, that order *was* sort of vague if you ask me.

I will read this book to my kids one day when I have them and hopefully they will think it's absolutely ridiculous and hilarious...and not dumb! Highly recommended for all!
