Just for Fun Challenge: Happy Birthday, Moon by Frank Asch

Just for Fun Reading Challenge is hosted by Dolly at Dollycas Thoughts.

For this month's Just for Fun, I went back to my all time favorite picture book. This is one of the first books/series that I remember reading. Every flipping through it's pages now makes my heart so light! I so loved the illustrations and stories.

In Happy Birthday, Moon, Bear decides he'd like to get a present for the Moon for its birthday. He gets him a hat! That's about the best summary I could come up with without spoiling it for you.

The thing that is most endearing about this series is Bear's innocence. He's just as innocent & carefree as the readers of the book. Being best friends with the Moon! It made me sad when I was a child because I knew that one day, Bear might find out that he's not friends with the Moon afterall - and I didn't want him to be disappointed! I also remember looking at the back of the books to see which other ones I could find with the same character. I also read Moongame and always wanted to read Mooncake.

I googled this book and found a youtube video of it, so if you have 6 minutes, you can watch the animated version of Happy Birthday Moon!

  1. I've never read this book, but it sure looks good! :-)

  2. Oh my gosh, so I just checked back to see how your layout was coming - where oh where did you get that awesome "Be My Friend" widget???? I've been looking for one and I can't find one anywhere!

  3. CRAZY! I used to LOVE Goodnight Moon. I never knew there were other books in this series. Now I have something to look into, and I'll have to grab these for my nephew.

  4. Ruperto Hello my friend!!! Watch the video! It's very cute :)

Cat I still need to email you about that, it's so easy!

Jade Whaaa! That's awesome, and yeah there are other books in the series!!!!!
