Day 2 - Best I've read in 2011

Welcome to Armchair BEA Day 2! Today we're talking about the best books we've read in 2011. For more info check out: Armchair BEA.

Okay so here’s the disclaimer: I took a reading hiatus for years and maybe read 5 books…a YEAR for like…10 years?! So I had a lot of catching up to do. The books that you will see on this list will be books you probably read eons ago. But better late than never I always say! So without further ado…

Best Books I’ve Read this year (so far!)

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins – And I’m talking about book one folks. The others were cool but this one set me ablaze. I loved it so much that it’s hard for me to not run back and read it again every few weeks.

The Running Man by Richard Bachman (Stephen King) – LEAPIN’ LIZARDS this book was amazing!! It was fast paced with a fantastically explosive ending. I would suggest this book to everyone I know.

HATE LIST by Jennifer Brown – I thought this was just an exquisite example of real good YA. It was so real but not too graphic. While there was a direction I was hoping the book would take, I still found this book to be thrilling from beginning to end.

Roses are Red by James Patterson – Omg he finally got it right! The perfect balance of family life, the crimes, the killer’s POV and Alex’s love life. It ALL worked in this 6th installment of the Alex Cross series. It also ends with the biggest cliffhanger EVAAAAAR.

Thanks for stopping by :)

  1. I agree with the Hunger Games series. They are so intense and well written. I am unfamiliar with all of the other books you posted. Oh well, guess my "tbr" pile can just become even loooonger.

  2. I heard The Running Man is a lot like The Hunger Games (which I loved, loved, loved). I'll have to add it to my TBR. :)

  3. love your books you chose! i'm a GFC follower of your blog now!

mine are mostly dystopians! check out my list and follow me back?! =]

  4. THE HUNGER GAMES trilogy is definitely worthy of best books read for a year. They never grow old either, as re-reads will expose you to different aspects of the story. I think it was my third re-read of THG which solidified Suzanne Collins' skill as a writer in my opinion.

    Great list!

  5. I only just read the Hunger games and have yet to complete the rest of the series. I'm like that as well. I actually pride myself in not reading books when everyone else is reading them.

  6. YAY! I'm glad you all agree ;)

  7. This reminds me that I have yet to read Hate List! It's on my shelf now, I'll get around it soon.

And about the book cover for One Day? I agree, and actually, at first I thought it was something like Across the Universe since the design's got almost the same concept.

And do you know that this is now turned into a movie? Emma is going to be played by Anne Hathaway and Dexter will be played by Jim Sturgess. I can't wait to see it!
