Day 1 - Armchair BEA Kickoff: Who is Lah and how does she Armchair?

Today I discovered that this cool event was happening and immediately signed up! It's the 2nd annual virtual convention that those of us who can't make the Check out Armchair BEA for more info!

Who am I?
What's up guys! I'm Lah, I'm from Brooklyn and I love books. I'm also an emerging professional opera singer who moonlights as an amateur book blogger! I can't make it to BEA (even though I'm soooo close) so I'm so psyched to participate in this awesome AWESOME online event!

I've been blogging since August 2010. But really got crazy into blogging around January of this year. I started reviewing a lot of YA but got a little bored and have since moved on to Suspense Thrillers and some MG fiction. But to tell you the truth, my blog is highly eclectic. I just read what I like!

Genres I love: Suspense thrillers, Dystopia (like bone-chillingly real dystopia), Murder Mysteries, Exceptional YA (like Hate List, The Hunger Games etc.), Soft Sci-fi, Cyberpunk

Genres I don't love (or haven't been convinced by yet): Certain YA (that take place in High Schools with mean girls and jocks), Paranormal stuff, most Chick-lit

How do I Armchair?
Can't make it this year so I guess I'm going to be Armchairing from work (shhh!!) I'm looking most forward to checking out bloggers and getting some cool ideas about how to format my reviews and how to update my page.

Drop a comment below to say hi!!

  1. I also get bored if I read too much of the same genre - I literally cannot read two books in a row from the same genre (the only exception being a series that has me positively hooked!)

  2. Hi Lah! Thanks for stopping by my blog. I, too, am looking forward to seeing how everyone blogs about books. I also chat with several bloggers on Twitter with the hashtag #bookbloghelp. We share tips and tricks, ask questions, and get opinions. They are impromptu chats since we span several time zones, but a few of us are almost always around. I'll be blogging about it on Thursday.

  18. It's freaking awesome that you're an opera singer! I used to walk around the house pretending to sing opera when I was, like 4. My mom didn't seem to think I had the talent for it...LOL!

You are totally rocking that dress in that picture! Super cute!

I saw your blog mentioned over at brush up on your reading, and thought I'd pop in. Great blog!
