Book Blogger Hop 5/27-5/30

Book Blogger Hop

Book Blogger Hop is one of my fave memes from Jennifer at Crazy for Books!

This week's question:
"What book-to-movie adaption have you most liked? Which have you disliked?"

Most recently, one of my fav book to movie adaptions is The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. I really liked the book and I really felt the movie was true to it. It was so fantastically imaginative and illustrative. There were moments that I was brought to tears because the words and meaning behind them came so alive.

I loathed Harry Potter 5 Order of the Phoenix. But I saw it so long ago and only once, that I don't have specific examples as to why I hated it so much. There was definitely a point where I had to say: OK, the books and the movies are entirely different. But this one was just so terrible I couldn't stand it. I know that it was probably the most rushed of all the movies and that might've been why I hated it. Come on HP fans, you've gotta agree with me!

  1. Yeah, OotP was a bit rushed but I did like the movies. Once I stopped trying to compare them to the books, I was able to enjoy the movies for what they were. I try to turn off my nagging voice in my head when I watch them LOL! Twilight disappointed me more.

I miss you girl! Hope everything is going well!

    Happy holiday weekend!

  2. Let’s kick off Memorial Day Weekend with some scandal and controversy.

I absolutely loved every minute of the Lord of the Rings films and felt they hit the mark when they brought Tolkien’s masterpiece to the big screen.

Wait, wait. I can explain! Hop on over to my blog and hear me out –

  3. Aagh both those movies are on my 'to watch' list but i'm reading too much to find the time!
    Happy Blog Hop Day!

  4. Happy Friday, I haven't watched Voyage of the Dawn Treader yet but I did think of some HP for movies I disliked compared to books.
    Have a Great Weekend!

  5. I too am concentrating on reading rather than on movies so cannot comment on either! Have a good weekend.

  6. I liked Voyage of the Dawn Treader, but I thought Prince Caspian was better. :)
OotP was not my favorite HP movie, but I didn't think it was tooo bad. I loved Prisoner of Azkaban. :)

    here is my FF/BBH:

  7. I TOTALLY agree with you about HP5!! That director butchered it! I can't remember all the details either, but that's when the director tried making Harry all "studly" and he hacked apart the book and then pieced it together all wrong. The whole part with the Room of Requirement was completely changed around.

I still love the movie and watch it because it's Harry Potter, but I do so grudgingly and with little foot stomping.

  8. I liked the Narnia movie, and thouht it was a good adaptation. To Kill a Mockingbird is still my favorite tho.

  9. I don't remember the specifics about that particular movie. But part of it might be that I read the books and saw the movies so far apart.

  10. Amber : Miss you too girl!

Lieder Machen : I haven't seen Prince Caspian! Isn't that ridiculous?!

Small : I forgot about the whole "studly" thing they did with HP in that movie. Yucky! And the Room of Requirement thing made me want to leave the theater lol.

  11. I am so out of the loop when it comes to Harry Potter. I only read the first book and haven't seen any of the movies. I am hoping to finally get around to reading the rest of the series because I know I must be missing something!

Also, if you have time I am giving away a copy of Wings of Fate on my blog and would love for you to check it out!

  12. I've only read one of the Narnia books, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, but I've seen all the films. I liked the films but there was a TV serial of The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe on when I was a kid which I remember as being better

  13. i really love the LOTR movie=] and i hated the movie twilight!
