Music Monday: "Uprising" for Among the Free

About the Book
I read this entire series over a few weeks or so a couple years ago. It was my introduction in dystopian novels and I loved it. In short, the Shadow Children series (by Margaret Peterson Haddix) takes place during "a time in which drastic measures have been taken to quell overpopulation". Luke is a 3rd child born in a world where there can only be 2 children, by law. Families have 3rd children but hide them. Luke finds other 3rds and the story progresses from there. In the final book, Luke starts a rebellion. What better song to go to this book than Uprising by Muse?

"They will not force us. They will stop degrading us. They will not control us. We will be victorious!"

About the Artist
Muse holds a special place in my heart because they were the one of the first alternative bands I got into when I was in college. While their sound has changed a lot since then, they still remained true to their roots by keeping their electronica infused beats with occassional distorted vocals. Their sound is considered Space Rock and they are influenced by bands like Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead and Queen.

  1. That is the PERFECT song for the series!! :)

  2. 1. I love this music! I did another Music Monday post for Bandits by LM Preston and I used a song by Linkin' Park.

    2. It's awesome how blogging has actually changed something about the way we read right?

    3. I haven't started reading Zombicorns yet. I actually thought of pop corn when I first saw it. The type of pop corn that keeps sticking between your teeth and won't come out no matter what you do. I actually love that zombicorn on the cover, he looks so hilariously cute!

    4. I love that purple flower too! Glad you liked the pictures :D

    5. You have to hurry up and get a copy of Life on the Refrigerator Door soon, I promise you it's really great.

    6. I talk too much don't I? :D

    7. Have an awesome new week!
