Guest Post: Cat from Cat's Thoughts

I'm super busy and I knew around mid-week, I'd completely lose steam. So I put a distress call out on Twitter for any sort of random guest post and Cat from Cat's Thoughts was kind enough to lend me a hand. Check out her post below!

I am an organizational super freak. In my defense, it’s kind of necessary for the life I lead – I’ve been working and going to school full time for at least the past seven years, not to mention juggling husband, friends, reading, and blogging. I think it takes a special kind of crazy to be organized enough to keep all that straight, but I could be biased :)

Basically, organization is one of my favorite things. I love lists and calendars and schedules. Flow charts make my heart happy. Talk to me about indexing and cross referencing and I get giddy. It confuses my poor free-spirited husband to no end. But in all my organization love, until this year, I had never really kept track of my reading. It’s always just been something that I did – I am never without a book (or at least access to a book), and I usually have more than one going at a time, or several lined up in my head. My non-reader friends have asked me in that incredulous, “I don’t understand you” tone how many books I’ve read, or read in a week/month/year etc. And my best answer has always been “A LOT!”

When I started becoming more involved in the book blogging community, I found all kinds of cool things that make my organized heart go pitter-patter, including sites like Goodreads, and the super fun that is reading challenges. I always knew I read a lot, don’t get me wrong. But there’s something really awesome about keeping track of my reading in a more meaningful way, both personally (I use Goodreads) and to meet all those crazy challenges I signed up for.

We set goals for things like weight loss, savings plans, and places to see before we die, so why not set goals for something else that we love – READING! Keeping better tabs on what I’ve been up to with my reading has inspired me to do more (!) and made me really proud of something that I’ve been doing for my entire life. I’ve always been proud to be a reader, even when people look at me like I’m crazy for it, but it’s so cool to be able to give a real answer to the question of “Just how many books do you read?!?” (The current answer to that question is 45 books this year in case you were curious.)

Anyway, thank you so much to Lah for having me here today! I hope you enjoyed my little ramble!
You are welcome Cat! Thank YOU for leaving a guest post on my page! 45 books already?! Leapin' Lizards!!! I should take some organization lessons from you!

Hope everyone is having a productive, book-filled week :)
