Music Monday: "Micro Cuts" for The Running Man

I've seen a zillion people doing Music Monday and I figured I'd join the party!

The Running Man by Richard Bachman (Stephen King)

This fast paced page turner rocked my world earlier this year. It was one of the suggested dystopian reads for the Dystopia Challenge and has really set the standard for the type of dystopia I plan to read. The song I chose for this week is Micro Cuts by the amazing band, Muse. Something about the distortion in the lead vocal line and the chaos reminds me of the chaotic world Ben Richards lives in and is running from. Even the opening bars make me think of the paranoia that Richards suffered as he hid from the world at large unsure of whether or not he'd be murdered at any turn.

The Running Man is set within a dystopian future in which the poor are seen more by the government as worrisome rodents than actual human beings. The protagonist of The Running Man, Ben Richards, is quick to realize this as he watches his daughter, Cathy, grow more sick by the day and tread closer and closer to death. Desperate for money to pay Cathy’s medical bills, Ben enlists himself in a true reality style game show where the objective is to merely stay alive

Check out my complete review for Running Man and enjoy "Micro Cuts" by Muse.
