Book Review: Princess in the Spotlight by Meg Cabot

Princess in the Spotlight by Meg Cabot
Published: Harper Teen, 2001
Borrowed from Library
Challenge: Mini-Challenge, Cover Love Challenge

Just when Mia thought she had the whole Princess thing under control... Things get out of hand, fast! There's the havoc of the interivew's aftermath and her dreaded princess lessons at the Plaza. Plus an unexpected announcement from her mother and intriguing, exasperating letters from a secret admirer. Mia is swept up in a whirlwind of royal intrigue the likes of which hasn't been seen since volume I of The Princess Diaries.

What can I say, I had to read the 2nd one right away. The first one kinda left me hanging and I needed to know a couple of things. I take it that most of you have read these books so here are some minor spoilers: The Algebra Teacher knocks the mom up! She has a secret admirer who, I thought was very obvious but upon reading it isn't who you'd think.

So now here I am after zipping through this second book, with all of these other books on my (literal) TBR pile thinking I might need to go to the library and get the third to see her end up with who I want her to end up with!!

I know many of you said you got to about the 4th or 5th book and had to put it down because it got annoying. I think I'm going to do that too, because right now I'm in "I'm Love With This Series" Land and who knows when I'll get tired of it! I give this one a 3 out of 4 stars and recommend it to fans of Meg Cabot's writing, YA Fiction and 1st person narratives.

  1. I LOVE the Princess Diaries books. I read them before the movie and just thought they were so different than the movie (though I enjoyed the movie well enough, I prefer my book-based Mia over movie-Mia). I think Princess in Love, the third one (?) is my favorite in the series. It might have gone on a bit too long because Mia got a little annoying towards the later books, but I still read every single one.

  2. @Erin OKAY so you read them all??? I think I might try to as well! If I space them out, maybe I won't be as annoyed!

  3. This is one of my favorite series of all time! I remember when I first read these... I went through them so fast and I couldn't wait until the next one. Good thing you have all the books with you. :) I hope you enjoy the rest.

  6. Thanks for honest review. I've watched a few of the movies but I haven't read the books.
