Talk to Me Tuesday: Content vs. Cover

I guess I'm addicted to Reading Challenges and Weekly memes with cute buttons. Talk to Me Tuesday is a brand new weekly meme hosted by i swim for oceans. Check out her amazing page and sign up on the linky for this meme!

What books have better covers than content, and what books have better content than covers?

Okay, at first I thought I couldn't think of any books but I have a few in mind. Two for each part of the question.
Better covers than content
I was so ready for the impending doom that this cover suggests and it never came.

I try not to judge a book by its cover, but this one really grabbed me. Too bad the content didn't!

Better Content than Covers

If no one said to me "You must read this." I wouldn't have picked it up. So glad I did.

The only reason I read this was so I could follow Alex Cross' story. I never would've thought it would be one of the most chilling, page turning supsense thrillers I'd read last year!

  1. Thanks so much for participating and following - I'm following you now, too.

I totally see where you're coming from with the first cover. If a cover implies something is going to happen...I want to see it happen! I don't want a pretty cover and no plot.

In regards to James Patterson's book, I guess he's had great covers with crappy books and great books with crappy covers. I really want to read one that is the whole package!

    Great choices!

  2. I like this new meme. If I can dig up a couple examples, I think I'll join too. I'm a sucker for memes also!

  3. Wow, that first cover screams "Something major is going to happen!" And then it doesn't? That's so frustrating!

I love the Everworld books by K. A. Applegate, but the covers are so bad and juvenile.

  4. Hi, I'm stopping by from Melissa's blog! That james patterson cover is definitely a little blah!

  5. @Melissa Thanks for following, I love this meme!

@Selena Glad I'm not the only one haha!

@Small Review Everworld books?? Gotta check those out!

    @Carrie hahah totally right?!

  6. I actually love The Stranger's cover because of its simplicity. I'm all about keeping it simple when it comes to covers.

That first cover does look awesome, though. Shame it didn't live up to that!

Also, thanks for stopping by! :]

  7. Yup, Everworld. Such a good series but terrible covers that make the books look like they're intended for much younger audiences (but they're not at all).

Here's my Everworld series review if you're interested.

I appreciate your comments!
